HomeGoods Shopping for a Bride-to-Be and a $100 Gift Card Giveaway!

Edited on July 10, 2011 to add:

Thanks to all who entered this give away!  Blogher Sweepstakes Randomly chose contestant # 2, Melissa F, from the blog " A Beautiful World" as the winner of the $100 HomeGoods gift card!

I've always loved shopping in a HomeGoods store as their selection and prices can't be beat!  HomeGoods is opening new stores countrywide -- click here to see their store locator page and enter your zip code to see if one has opened near you.

I was very excited to hear that a couple HomeGoods stores opened recently in New York City! I was even happier when BlogHer, in conjunction with HomeGoods, offered to let me, and other selected bloggers, go on a shopping spree with a $100 gift card at the upper west side of Manhattan at 795 Columbus Ave!! We were able to invite up to ten other people who would be receiving $50 gift cards to shop to their hearts content.

We were greeted at the Manhattan store at 8:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2011, by a BlogHer and HomeGoods Representatives and treated to a wonderful breakfast spread and the opportunity to shop for an hour and a half before the store opened at regular hours.

My mission was to shop for items for this happy couple -- my daughter Lisa and her fiance Joe! They will be getting married next spring and have a lot of "needs and wants" as a new couple. I knew they would find wonderfully useful items at HomeGoods, as you can see by the baking pan they immediately snapped up!

I was also very happy that "Buttercup," from the blog "Buttercup Counts Her Blessings" was also able to accept my invitation to shop with us!

As we walked around the store we all "oohed and aahed" over the brand name goods and the prices that were available in the bright and well stocked store! As the sign says, "Up to 60% off. Every day!"

I was amazed by the kitchen gadget selection. I love gadgets, and I know my daughter would probably need quite a few for her new kitchen.

The cookbook selection also caught my eye. What new bride wouldn't appreciate one or two?

On this shopping spree I also wanted to find some ideas for surprises for my daughter's wedding shower that will be held next year.  I saw so many wonderful gift items that I know she'll enjoy, and I know I will be making many more trips to this HomeGoods store over the year.

They liked this Lenox china cake topper...but shhhhh...it might be a shower surprise!

The other bloggers invited by BlogHer were also having fun filling their carts with wonderful bargains!  HomeGoods has a blog and a facebook page so it is easy to keep up with their new offers and decorating ideas.

My husband was impressed with the gourmet pasta selections in the gourmet food section. A few of them went into our basket as a thank you for him coming along literally right off the plane from our birthday celebration trip to Colorado. That's right, we took the red eye flight home, yet managed to zip over to HomeGoods that very same morning!  Now you know how much I love shopping at HomeGoods!

Just look at their fabulous dinnerware and ceramics selection!

There were aisles and aisles of quality dishes at unbelievable prices!

My daughter was concentrating on practical storage solutions for her new home.

As you can see from the escalators in the photo above, the Columbus Ave Manhattan HomeGoods has two floors of shopping opportunities!

Downstairs there was a fabulous array of framed art and decorative accessories.

There were  plenty of lamps and unique furniture pieces....

...and the cutest seasonal Forth of July decorations!

The goods specifically designated for outdoor summer entertaining and fun were dazzling!

The happy couple selected a rotating spice jar set. Joe, a former Navy man, is a wonderful cook!

We all had fun using our gift cards and filling up our shopping baskets! Buttercup selected an assortment of beautiful towels, appetizer spoon set and a gift item for a baby shower. My daughter filled her basket with kitchen and storage items.

We were all smiles checking out!

My husband carrying out the packages. He is such a good sport and he always has a smile on his face!

I purchased beautiful marble bathroom accessories, hangers, and a few other necessities and...

.... a few beautiful ceramic serving dishes that my daughter will enjoy using everyday!

HomeGoods -- it has something for everyone!

My FAVORITE store! I'm in there at least once a week :) Every day brings new things, so I have no idea what I'd buy!

What a great visit you had at the store opening! I always enjoy going through our Home Goods store, especially since it's attached directly to TJ MAXX. They always have an abundant selection of items to choose from. I would treat myself to some of their unique spices and teas as well as look for items for my son's bedroom.

Barbara F. said...

Oh Pat this was a real virtual shopping spree for me! Your daughter looks like she is glowing! Congratulations to both of them and to you too. I love all the items you chose. If I was there, I am sure a cute colorful rooster or hen would have nested in my cart, as well as some pretty green stemware (searching high and low for those) and some colorful flatware. I love perusing the gourmet food aisle, always on the lookout for a different spice blend or vinegar or flavored coffee. Great review, Pat, and it will be included in my next post and I'll be sure to let you know. xo,

Pat- thanks for the invite to come over and participate in your give-away! The nearest Home Goods in down in Cincinnati, so I don't get there very often. Since I'm in a gardening mode right now, I think I'd be looking for garden accessories. I've bought several things from them in the past- like iron grates and ornaments.
Your daughter and future son-in-law look very happy shopping for themselves! This particular store must be huge. The Cincy store isn't that big. I love to shop, period, so as long as I find something- I'm happy! Funny thing- every time the husband and I go down there, we run into one of our customers. She's always looking for inexpensive artwork and accessories. Guess she thinks ours are too expensive! LOL
I'll put you on my blog for two entries! Thanks, again.
hugs, Sue

Pat, I don't know how I missed this post. Your family looks like they were enjoying the shopping spree. I would have to say who wouldn't enjoy a gift certificate for Home Goods. I love the store especially for linens and lamps!

We are fortunate enough to have a Home Goods just a few minutes away. Recently my floor lamp gave up it's ghost and I've been meaning to head over to H.G. to pick up a new lamp. They have the most gorgeous lamps! But I also need some dessert bowls. With a hundred dollar gift card I should have enough to get both.

Thanks Pat (and HOME GOODS), for sponsoring this contest. :)

I know your daughter and her fiance, as well as you too, had a good time picking out things for their home together.

Whenever I visit one of their stores, I look at everything. The lamps are my favorites, because they usually have a decorator look, but the prices are SOOOO much better.

Hi Pat, First, thank you for the sweetest comment about my post today. You gave me a big smile today. You are right about loving to go places with my hubs. He is always up for some fun. I love that about him.

The HomeGoods store is fabulous. Your daughter is just darling and she looks so happy with her groom-to-be. I know you are loving all the fun of your darling daughter getting married. I love that Joe is right in the middle of all the fun. Most guys do not care about such things. He loves to cook??? He is a keeper. Big smile here.

What would I buy at that awesome store? Hmmmmm. I loved the variety of lovely dishes for sale. I have a weakness for dishes. I would be thinking "tablescape" and a pretty table set for all the company we have.

Your photos really got my interest. I have only been in one of these stores once and we were rushed. I have been thinking of going back ever since. I am really impressed how the store went all out to make your shopping experience happy and exciting. That kind of attention would have me coming back as a regular customer. Please include me in the drawing.

I will post about this asap.
XO, Jeanne

HomeGoods always has those unusual things that no one else carries. I love their Christmas ornaments, their speciality foods, but my favorite are all those cooking gadgets and cookware. I got a terrific cast iron dutch oven for a very reasonable price. I watched until it was marked down and even got one for my best friend's birthday present. It is a wonderful place to shop, and I even blogged about it last summer!
